Cradle of Switzerland
There are plenty of good reasons to take time to explore the region: natural wonders such as the karstic rock formations and the virgin alpine forest in Muotathal; upland moors; lakes in the foothills of the Alps; or spectacular views from Mt. Fronalpstock and Mt. Rigi.
Culture and history are also inextricably linked with the region: it is home to the Federal Charter of 1291 and other milestone original documents relating to the founding of Switzerland, historic patrician manors and the monastery of Einsiedeln with its world-famous abbey library.
