The mountain with panoramic views
The family-friendly holiday region of Lungern-Schönbüel is on the Brünig Pass halfway between Lucerne and Interlaken. The beautiful scenery in the canton of Obwalden, with the emerald green Lake Lungern, appeals to walkers, water sports fans and lovers of nature and in winter provides a family-friendly skiing area.
You can go by cable-car up from Lungern (750 m) to Turren and then on by chair-lift to Schönbüel (2002 m) where there are excellent views. The Lungern-Schönbüel area, with its fantastic views, is the starting point for many mountain walks and bike tours. The most well-known is the walk from the top station of the cable-car on Schönbüel to the Brienzer Rothorn (or vice versa).
