The landscape of the Lake Lucerne Region is covered in a spectacular blanket of fluffy snow in winter. A winter wonderland is nearby, for the 15 snow sport resorts can all be reached within a short time by train, mountain railway, Postauto bus and even by boat. Those looking for deep powder snow at high altitudes go to Engelberg-Titlis, while Andermatt, at the foot of the Gotthard Pass, is perfect for snow-savvy skiers and snowboarders. The quaint village of Sörenberg attracts off-piste skiers, and the car-free resort of Melchsee-Frutt is ideal for family adventure. Mt. Rigi is just as popular in winter as a paradise for winter sports, winter walks and snowshoe treks, all of which are accompanied by a spectacular view.
