The Lucerne Theater was built in 1839 and is the only theatre in Central Switzerland featuring three different sectors of the performing arts and with its own opera, theatre and dance ensembles. Classical works are just as much a part of the program as contemporary productions, including world and Swiss premieres. With a striking program, a cogent approach to texts, new music, novel choreographic languages and a young ensemble, the theatre’s director Dominique Mentha has successfully positioned the Lucerne Theater as a “discovery theatre” both nationally and internationally over the past years.
