Carnival
For many Lucerners Carnival is the most beautiful time of the year. Each time, it starts on Fat Thursday with the big bang. Three big processions are among the highlights of Lucerne Carnival.

While Carnival in Lucerne is dominated by Guggen musicians, the neighbouring borough of Kriens is still more the home of the traditional "Fasnacht". The people of Kriens are not only proud of their carnival tradition, but especially of their very own carnival characters and the hand-carved wooden masks.
