The original locations featured in the legend of Swiss freedom hero Wilhelm Tell are still very much in evidence in Uri, ensuring a fascinating journey of discovery. The passenger boats plying Lake Uri ferry you to the historical sites of Tell history, including the Schiller Stone, the Rütli Meadow and the Tell Chapel. After a typical 'Tell meal' the journey continues to Bürglen with a visit to the Tell Museum and the Tell monument in Altdorf. Uri is also a paradise of aerial cable cars – 39 within a small area. The family-friendly hiking region offers everything in both summer and winter, including well-maintained hiking trails, magnificent views, idyllic resting places and mountain inns.
