Built in 1788, the romantic hotel was one of the first post offices in Swit-zerland and the last stop before the climb up to the Gotthard pass. Be-cause of its special location, it quickly became one of the top ad-dresses in canton Uri. And it remains notable today for its generosity; various old lounges, halls and a park-like garden invite you to stay awhile. Just like Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Hans Christian Andersen and General Henri Guisan, today's guests value the excellent food and unique ambience. The hotel is a member of 'Swiss Historic Hotels' and received a ICOMOS - special prize for professionally running a restaurant with historic hotel fur-nishings. The rooms are modern with old antiques.
