This very demanding and long tour takes bikers through the mysteriously quiet Niedersurenen Valley into another world. Along the Engelberger Aa for the route to the Surenen Pass. The imposing Spannörter and the Stäuber waterfall are just two of the numerous highlights on this tour.
The station Engelberg is the starting point of the tour Engelberg. The tour starts flat through the village and past the monastery. At the second road junction, keep right and turn into Oberbergstrasse until you reach the Fürenalpbahn valley station on the slightly rising road. The valley becomes narrower and the base changes to gravel after approx. 1.5 km. Steadily ascending you pass the Herrenrüti to the Restaurant Alpenrösli. A stop is recommended here. Not only because mountain restaurant is known for its Rösti and good desserts, but also because you should relax your legs a little before the last short but steep ascent to Stäfeli. From here, easier and more difficult passages alternate constantly. In some places the bike is carried, only conditionally and technically experienced bikers know how to overcome the most difficult passages in the saddle. Between the Stäfeli mountain restaurant and the Stäuber waterfall, the difficult passage can be bypassed somewhat by using the Äbnetbahn (bike transport possible) and thus reaching the Stäuber from above via the somewhat easier route. On the Blackenalp it is time to enjoy lunch with a wonderful view of the mountains, the Spannörter and the Surrenenpass. Strengthened, it continues to climb steadily, sometimes on the bike, sometimes next to the bike, but always with the anticipation that it is no longer so far to the top of the pass and the view of the Urner Alps makes you forget all the exertions. From the highest point of the tour to the Alp Waldnacht, a very demanding single trail awaits you. At the lake before Alp Waldnacht, turn right into another single trail. From Zieriberg the road and single trail alternate until you reach the valley floor. On the left side of the valley and along the Reuss river, the majority of the way leads straight on to the Lake of Uri and on to Bauen, where the road in the direction of Seelisberg begins to climb again. In the middle section the bike has to be pushed or carried a good 100 metres in altitude. In Seelisberg, the idyllic mountain lake invites you to swim before the second half of the tour is taken up. From Emmetten the tour follows the SchweizMobil Route 923 via Twäregg to Tannibüel. At the valley station of the Chälen chairlift, you drive via Bärenfallen towards Niederrickenbach. On the road you reach the Engelbergertal valley to Dallenwil. Now comes the last section of the route, which leads along the cycle path through the Aaschlucht gorge to the starting point in Engelberg.
