After you have enjoyed the promenade at the beginning of the hike, you will soon head uphill towards Urmiberg, where you can admire the fountains and Lake Uri from above. Then it goes steadily towards the Rigi-Scheidegg, take a visit to the vista point 'Gottertli' when possible.
At the beginning of the approximately 2 ½-hour hike, you stroll leisurely along the lake promenade of Brunnen, before going uphill. You should not underestimate the somewhat steep climb towards Urmiberg. Once at the top, the fabulous view of the Schwyzer basin and Lake Uri opens up for you.

The small detour to Gottertli you should definitely plan. From the Gottertli the small and the big myths as well as the lakes of Zug and Lauerzer are spectacular to see. Once you have reached the Gätterlipass, continue uphill towards Rigi Burggeist. About 30 minutes later you reach the destination. A fantastic 360 ° panoramic view of the Rigi Scheidegg Arche as well as food and drink in the mountain inns make up for the hiking exertions. The Kräbel cable car takes you via Rigi Bahnen to Goldau, where there are SBB connections in all directions.

Directions

From the fountain the path leads to Urmiberg. The Urmiberg is considered the local mountain of Brunnen. It towers upright 1140 meters at the western end of the village.First you walk comfortably along the lake promenade in Brunnen and along the Muota to the valley station of the Urmiberg cable car. The approximately 600 meters ascent can be conveniently saved with the aerial cable car. Or you opt for muscle power. First walk to Wylen and Schrängiggen on foot. From here you hike steadily uphill via Unter and Ober Brunniberg to the restaurant Urmiberg / Timpel. At the top, you will be rewarded by the impressive view of the Schwyzer basin, the fountain and the Lake of Uri surrounded by mountains. The cozy terrace of the restaurant invites you to linger.

Above the mountain station Urmiberg the path continues, always in the direction of Gätterlipass. After half an hour you have the choice: either you hike directly to Egg or you take the way to the viewpoint "Gottertli" and from there to Egg. In good weather, we recommend variant 2. Unique views of Lake Zug and Lauerzersee as well as the myths of little and big await you. At the Gätterlipass, the ascent begins towards Rigi Scheidegg. 60 meters below the Scheidegg you reach the Berggasthaus Burggeist at 1545 meters above sea level. M., and after another 15 minutes you are on Rigi Scheidegg at the mountain inn.
