Take:
12 advanced alphorn players
1 organist
1 course leader
A beautiful mountain world
1 acoustically excellent room with two organs (Engelberg monastery church)
Mix everything for a week and present the concert-like product on Friday at 4.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. in the monastery church in Engelberg.
From 6 - 13 July 2024, the Alphorn Week for Advanced Players will take place in Engelberg for the first time. The 12 participants come from all parts of the country.
Under the direction of forest and alphorn player and professional teacher Matthias Kofmehl, the participants will perfect previously rehearsed works for alphorn and organ until they are ready for concert performance. They are accompanied by an organist.
In addition to the lessons in the monastery church, music for alphorn ensembles is rehearsed. This year, the musicians also take their ‘second instruments’ with them, thus enriching the concert programme with music for brass and woodwinds.
In the final concerts, the participants show off their skills in selected performances. Works for one or more alphorns with organ accompaniment as well as chamber music for brass and woodwind ensembles will be performed in the church.
Admission is free. Collection
