Gold is an important element of many masterpieces in the history of art. Years ago, the Tuscan artist Gregorio Piccoli discovered the “Fondo Oro” painting technique for himself and brought it back to life. His works are now on display at the Engelberg Monastery. The artist, who now lives in Tuscany, was inspired by the old Sienese masters. He worked for a long time with a renowned studio in Siena. Gregorio Piccoli sees himself first and foremost as an artisan who enthusiastically continues the increasingly rare tradition of the “Fondo Oro”.
