Works by the artist Gregorio Piccoli in the "Knechtenstube" of Engelberg Monastery.
Gold is an important element in many masterpieces of art history. Years ago, the Tuscan artist Gregorio Piccoli discovered the painting technique known as "Fondo Oro" and brought it back to life. His works are now being exhibited at Engelberg Monastery. The artist, who currently lives in Tuscany, was inspired by the old Sienese masters. He collaborated for a long time with a renowned studio in Siena. Gregorio Piccoli sees himself primarily as a craftsman who passionately continues the increasingly rare tradition of "Fondo Oro.
The introduction will be given by Engelberg Benedictine monk and artist Fr. Eugen Bollin.
Alessandro Valoriani, the monastery’s organist, and the artist Gregorio Piccoli will present the works.
