Abbey and treasury, Beromünster
Abbey and treasury, Beromünster
The principal features of Beromünster Abbey have remained unchanged for almost a millennium. It's of great historical importance, especially as it houses a treasury in the chambers under its walls.
With liturgical objects from a period spanning 1300 years, the treasury represents one of the most important medieval and baroque collections of ecclesiastical treasures in Switzerland, and is also of immense significance at a European level.
The abbey forms the centre of the village and the abbey precinct with its thirty canons' residences.
