The large ponds are inhabited by more than 20 species of dragonfly, including the damselfly, damselfly and hawker dragonfly. Water and grass frogs, common toads, alpine newts and grass snakes also feel at home here. Thanks to sustainable management, the mixed coniferous forest will give way to mixed deciduous forest over the next two decades so that native species can find ideal conditions and the area can continue to thrive.
