Stoos-Muota Valley

Take the world’s steepest funicular railway from the lower terminus at Schwyz-Schlattli to an altitude of 1,300 metres. Inaugurated in 2017, the railway has what must be a record-breaking 110% gradient. The car-free mountain village of Stoos nestles in a family-friendly hiking and skiing area. The views of Lake Lucerne and the Central Swiss mountains from the Fronalpstock are unique. The Muota Valley promises adventure courtesy of the Hölloch cave system, husky trekking or Europe’s largest ancient spruce forest.
