The Forum of Swiss History is an education destination for Swiss culture and history, and features interactive exhibits and exciting events. It is dedicated to issues concerning the foundation of Switzerland and addresses current topics in temporary exhibitions.
The permanent exhibition ‘Switzerland in the Making’ focuses on the foundation of the Old Swiss Confederacy. Designed as an adventure tour and featuring impressive scenography, the exhibition turns your visit into an adventure. You are immersed in a bygone world: you will meet a mounted knight in battle armour, hear a monk dictating in the scriptorium, and ‘stroll’ along a virtual mule track over the Splügen Pass. At the end of the exhibition, you can dress up as a knight, squire or damsel and have your picture taken.
Selected objects, interactive media stations and information in four languages (D, F, I, E) make the Forum one of the most important museums of cultural history in the alpine region. You can also explore the permanent exhibition with an iPod audio guide. In the temporary exhibition in the museum’s basement, current topics are addressed and presented in a contemporary way. Exciting guided tours, further learning programmes and diverse events complement the exhibitions. A small cafeteria and museum shop round off your visit. Swiss school groups receive free entry and guided tours.
