The building – heritage protected. The food – modern, creative with a hint of retro. It is exactly this blend of nostalgia and modern gastronomy that turns a visit to the Restaurant STERN into an unforgettable experience.
The dishes on the menu are all made on the premises using regional products wherever possible. The fish is sourced from Lake Lucerne, the lamb from the pastures above Göschenen. Another special culinary highlight is the STERN tasting menu, involving tasty mini appetisers served in jars. These delicacies include hand-cut Central Swiss beef tartar, and pralines fashioned from Dallenwil goat’s cream cheese enrobed in pumpernickel, to name but two.
The STERN goes back a long way. Established in 1524 as a wine tavern, it then became a riding stable, followed by a guesthouse. Located on Franziskanerplatz, it was acquired by Tavolago AG in 2011 and converted into a modern restaurant with retro overtones.
The establishment’s rich history is reflected in the materials used in the restaurant. Accents in this agreeable eatery include the solid timber benches and tables.
