The most entertaining way to visit the Rigi, Queen of the Mountains.
On this outing, the journey itself is the destination. Combine different means of transport and enjoy the varied views. For this half-day or day trip you board a boat in Lucerne. Relax on deck on the 48-minute trip to Vitznau. Treat yourself to a drink or a meal and enjoy the views of the city of Lucerne, Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains and villages. On arrival in Vitznau you board the historic Rigi Railway, Europe’s first ever cog railway. This takes you to Rigi Kulm at an altitude of 1,797 metres, where you can admire the all-round view, go walking or sit down to a tasty meal.
Break up your return journey with a visit to the Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Baths & and Spa. The facility was designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta. Next to it is the terminus of the Weggis-Rigi Kaltbad aerial cableway, which you take down to Weggis. After a short walk through the village, you board the boat that brings you back to Lucerne.
