«The Golden Roundtrip» ticket, available between May and October, is your passport to the most fascinating trip around Lucerne by boat, cogwheel railway, aerial cableway, gondola car and bus.
You’ll really get that holiday feeling on the boat trip between Lucerne and Alpnachstad. Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains present a fascinating panorama. On arrival in Alpnachstad, the world’s steepest cogwheel railway takes only 30 minutes to bring you all the way up to Pilatus Kulm at an altitude of 2,132 metres. The views here are stunning. The Pilatus offers a variety of footpaths and places to eat.
The modern «Dragon Ride» aerial cableway then floats you down the other side of the Pilatus to Fräkmüntegg. If you fancy some action, you can visit the largest rope park in Central Switzerland, hurtle down the toboggan run or even spend the night in a tree tent. In winter, activities include sledging and winter walking. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants here, too, or you could even organise your own barbecue.
The next leg of the round trip involves taking a panoramic gondola car down to Kriens. You could first stop off at Krienseregg to let the kids run off some steam at the PILU Land adventure playground. On arrival at the end terminus in Kriens, it’s a short walk to the bus stop for convenient buses back to Lucerne railway station.
If you’d rather complete The Golden Roundtrip in two days, you could stay the night at a hotel on Pilatus Kulm or in a tree tent at Fräkmüntegg.
The Golden Roundtrip is available from early/mid May through to mid November.
