From May to October you’ll be greeted between Giswil and Meiringen by the animals of the Brünig Safari – fashioned from wood and dotted along the rack-and-pinion stretch of the route.
When the train enters the Giswil-Meiringen section, be sure to put your book away and look outside: the entire stretch is dotted with native wild animals (as well as some that used to roam free). They are placed in their natural environment in such a way as to be visible from the train. And if you look really carefully, you may even see some real wildlife. The train ride turns into an exciting safari for schools, families and nature lovers.
Incidentally, it’s even easier to see the animals through the panoramic windows of the new Lucerne–Interlaken Express.
The big Brünig Safari competition gives you a chance to win great prizes every month. Leaflets explaining the competition are available at all Zentralbahn railway’s sales outlets and on trains that cross the Brünig Pass.
