A "pearl" in the Muota Valley mountains

You leave the hamlet of Stalden on an old road that leads us for long stretches as a hollow way (Gasse) up through the sunny Heimwesen. At the "Bildstöckli" you reach the road that leads to Horgrasen. Shortcutting a hairpin bend, you hike to the uppermost Heimwesen below the imposing Heubrigfluh. From here you hike along the unique flagstone path through the legendary Schluechtrisi. Through the impressive, mostly dry stream bed of the Teufdolen you reach greener terrain again (Klosterberg). At Klosterweid you cross the Starzlenbach stream and follow the old Pragelweg trail to behind Guetentalboden. Now leave the Pragelweg and reach the Bödmerenwald forest on the right after a short, steep ascent through the Bärenloch. No one is averse to a stop at the Unter Roggenloch alpine inn.

Then you circle the geologically unique Roggenstöckli to reach Mittenwald through unique primeval forest relics. A few hundred metres on the alpine road southwards to the alp Unter Gschwänd and you turn right onto the mountain path to the Gross Band. The trail through the Gross Band is rightly considered a "pearl" in the Muotatal mountains! Unique and well secured, it follows the foot of the wall of a partly enormous, overhanging Fluh. Via a short, steep but secured ascent, you reach flatter terrain. Through the forest, which again and again offers wonderful views of the valley, you descend to Fedli. Now it is only a few minutes on the natural road with a short tunnel to the Pragelstrasse. The starting point at Stalden with its inns can be reached on foot in about a quarter of an hour's walk.
