Älggialp Cairn Trail

The Älggialp and in particular the Cairn Trail offer you peaceful relaxation and a wealth of variety. You learn a lot about the area in which the centre of Switzerland finds itself.

The centre point is the start of the varied Cairn Trail, a tour on the Älggiboden, which aims to show the beauty of our nature alongside information. At 15 selected locations, you learn what the centre of Switzerland has to offer. Stroll along the 1.5 km trail at your leisure. There are interesting details about the alp, the flora and fauna, the geography and geology.

SPECIAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS FOR SATURDAY/SUNDAY + PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

On Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays there is one-way traffic from Blatten (from midnight), i.e. on the last 5 km.

Ascents at even hours (e.g. 8:00 - 8:40, you have to be at the top by 9:00 at the latest). Descents at odd hours (e.g. 9:00 - 9:40, you have to be at Blatten by 10:00 at the latest)

A narrow, well-surfaced mountain road links Sachseln with the Aelggialp. The road can be used by minibuses (up to 16 people).
