Directions

The  takes us to the starting point of the hike. From Niederrickenbach to Alpboden it takes about 30 minutes of walking time. Then it goes 700 vertical meters up to Haldigrat. Those who want can overcome these vertical meters using the Alpboden - Haldigrat chairlift. From the Haldigrat mountain station it goes all along the ridge, at the top partly somewhat slippery, to the 2403m high Brisen. The panoramic view is brilliant! Be careful when descending on the southern side of the Brisen and via Steinalper Jochli / Schuenegg. Over the Glattgrat and descent we reach the Brisenhaus, where overnight stays are possible. After a break for refreshments, it goes back to Niederrickenbach.

Other worthwhile ascents for sporty hikers on this two-day route are the Oberbauenstock (2117m) and the Niederbauen (1923m). From the Niederbauenalp, it is not far to the Hundschopf, an unexpected and impressive viewpoint above Lake Uri.
