As long as the Gotthard Pass Road is still closed for the winter, the best route up is via the Rotondo Hut. On the first day, the ascent leads from Realp to the hut. The next day, the route continues toward Pizzo Lucendro. Just below the summit, at about 2,800 m above sea level, a ski depot is set up. From there, the final section leads on foot along the ridge to the summit. For the descent, there are two options: Return via the same route through the Rotondo Hut and continue down to Realp. Descend toward the Gotthard Pass and then continue on to Hospental."
