The largest raised bog in Switzerland stretches between Rothenthurm and Biberbrugg and is a delight with its unspoilt nature. Even in winter, a walk through the wide plain of the raised bog is a mystical experience.

The winter hike starts at Rothenthurm railway station, from where you can reach the high moor in just a few steps. Snow, frost and icicles adorn the tranquil landscape of mountain pines and birch trees. Enjoy the view of the unique landscape, the Höhronen, the Morgartenberg and the range of hills with the Katzenstrick. On the way, you will see typical Turpehüttli, which are reminiscent of the former peat extraction. Take the same route back and see the red-roofed Letziturm tower, built in 1323, which gave the village its name.
