The Schöllenen Gorge leads from Göschenen to Andermatt in the Gotthard region. It is worth stopping between the steep rock faces and feeling the myth of the Gotthard at close quarters.

Anyone wishing to experience the scariness of the Schöllenen Gorge should embark on a walk along the Schöllenen circular trail during the summer months. It is easy to walk on and will take 30 minutes at the most, walking at a leisurely pace. The vertical cliff walls and the roaring river Reuss are fascinating to look at. The Teufelsbrücke Restaurant is located directly at the bridge of the same name. During the summer, visitors will find out more about the legend associated with the crossing of the Schöllenen Gorge.

Directions & Parking facilities

During the summer months (approx. May to October), Andermatt is easily accessible from all four points of the compass.

There is a limited number of parking spaces directly at the Schöllenen Gorge. Alternatively, there are various parking facilities in Andermatt close to the train station. This would mean a walk of approx. 30 minutes (total for the outward and return journey to the parking lot).

Andermatt is very well connected by train from central Switzerland via the Schöllenen, from the canton of Graubünden via the Oberalp Pass and from the canton of Valais through the Furka Tunnel.
