At 2148 m, the Sewen hut towers majestically above its domain on the right, sunny terrace of the Meien valley.

The views are magnificent: On the opposing side of the valley, you can see the highest mountain in canton Uri, the Fleckistock (at 3416 m) and the Stucklistock. To the West lie the Fünffingerstöcke and the Wendenhorn. Away from the valley, you can snatch a glimpse of the village of Meien.

The climb to the hut has been converted into a dwarf's trail. Lake Sewen invites you to cool off and enjoy a boat trip. Close to the hut you will find various rock-climbing parks with difficulty levels ranging from 3 to 6. Another attraction is the zip line that allows children to whizz through the mountain air.

Directions

Ascent: The car park next to the Gorezmettlenbach can be reached on the Susten Pass road (P. 1613, shortly after Färnigen). The trail firstly winds its way up the slope through the forest, then across open pastures. The beautifully situated Seewen hut already comes into view in 1½ hours. To the West, the jagged Fünffingerstock ridge group impresses, to the South, the Fleckistock with its suspended glaciers.

Descent: For the descent you can choose the path that goes to Gorezmettlen via Rieter, instead of the ascent path. To avoid the busy Susten Pass road, use a hiking trail just below the road that goes up to the Gorezmettlenbach car park again after crossing the stream.
