The route winds through diverse high-alpine landscapes featuring glaciers, sweeping slopes, and breathtaking viewpoints. Because of the numerous runs on north-facing slopes with reliable snow cover, it is also known as the “Skiers’ Haute Route.” The first stage begins in Realp and leads over the Schafberg to the Albert-Heim Hut. On the second day, the route crosses the Winterlücke and the Lochberg, descending to Göscheneralp. From the Göscheneralp reservoir, the route continues to the Chelenalp Hut. On the third day, the tour reaches its highest point at the Sustenhorn, at 3,502 meters above sea level. The route then continues over the Steingletscher to the Susten Pass. The fourth stage passes the Fünffingerstöcke and climbs up to the Uratstock. Overnight lodging is at the Sustli Hut, high above the Meiental. The final stage leads via Grassen to Engelberg, where the tour ends in Herrenrüti."
