Information on Coronavirus

  • The lockdown in Switzerland will be eased stepwise within the following weeks. Protection and hygiene measures will continue to have to be followed. The Swiss government announced a countrywide ban on gatherings of more than five people in public spaces. From May 30, 2020, gatherings up to 30 people will be permitted. Compliance in public areas is monitored by security forces and enforced if necessary.
  • Controls are currently being conducted at the borders with Italy, Germany, France and Austria. Only Swiss citizens, persons with a residence permit and persons travelling to Switzerland for professional reasons are allowed to enter the country. Transit traffic remains permitted. From May 11, 2020, the restrictions of immigration will be eased step by step as well as the public transportation services will be intensified progressively. The borders with Germany, Austria and France will be reopened from June 15, 2020. According to the Federal Council, the borders to all Schengen countries will be opened by July 6 at the latest.
  • Open/Permitted from May 11, 2020:
    • Shops and travel agencies
    • Museums and libraries
    • Gastronomy (until June 5, the number of persons per table is limited to four)

    • Camping sites
    • Zoos, swimming pools, theatres, cinemas and church services
    • Events with more than 300 people
  • As of March 17, the Federal Council has banned public and private events. From June 6, events with up to 300 people are permitted again. Large events with more than 1000 people will probably remain prohibited until the end of August. The regulation of events with less than 1000 persons is yet unclear.
