"Rosa - Verdingt"

Verdingkinder - a topic that is perceived as gloomy today. At a time when religious dominance was very high and encompassed all areas, when almost everyone was poor and there was no insurance for strokes of fate. The children of unmarried mothers or young families affected by death were the victims. They were then placed by the municipalities in overcrowded children's homes or on farms as "Verdingkinder", a kind of "social welfare" at the time. Harsh education and abuse were commonplace. But I think there were certainly also "normal" circumstances. And let's not fool ourselves morally: even in today's oh so enlightened and modern times, oppression and intolerable abuse are far from over.

Cornelia Truninger wrote a theatre play on this subject ten years ago. The story of Rosa Tanner. In the various roles she plays
the different roles, she shows all the facets and situations of a Verdingkind. A look back a few decades. Performed in a revised version on a farm as open-air theatre.
