Enjoy a nostalgic Sunday on the Stanserhorn and relive the Belle Époque.
Step back in time to the Belle Époque and enjoy a nostalgic Sunday on the Stanserhorn on November 1. Stories from the Wilhelminian era, public ranger-led tours, and musical entertainment bring to life the era in which the Stanserhorn Railway first began.

In our restaurant, you can also enjoy a privilege once reserved for the upper class: During afternoon tea, help yourself to a selection of sweet and savory delicacies from the buffet. This is accompanied by tea, coffee, and water—all served at will.

Anyone who wants to experience the day in true style is cordially invited to come dressed in Belle Époque attire and help create the special atmosphere.

Whether in historical attire or everyday clothing—enjoy a special Sunday and let yourself be transported back to a bygone era.

Belle Époque fashion
The fashion of the Belle Époque (approx. 1871–1914) was elegant, luxurious, and rich in detail. It reflected prosperity, social status, and the quality of craftsmanship. During the day, clothing was predominantly in light, subtle colors such as cream, white, light blue, or pastel shades. In the evening, however, dark and bold colors such as black, burgundy, or emerald green were also worn.

Typical features for women included:
An accentuated waist achieved through tightly laced corsets
Long, floor-length skirts with plenty of fabric and often a small train
High collars and long sleeves for daytime wear
Luxurious fabrics such as silk, satin, velvet, and lace
Elaborate embellishments with embroidery, beads, ruffles, and ribbons
Large hats with feathers, flowers, or veils, as well as gloves and parasols as accessories

Typical for men were:
Tailored suits or three-piece suits with a vest
Tailcoats or frock coats for festive occasions
White shirts with stiff collars and ties or bow ties
Hats such as top hats, bowler hats, or straw hats
Elegant leather shoes, gloves, and often a walking stick
