Tom Hutchinson is returning to the Black Dyke Band as principal cornetist. The three-time British Open soloist champion joins the storied band, which has won numerous championship titles.

Tom Hutchinson is the new lead cornetist of the Black Dyke Band. The former principal cornetist of the Cory Band was previously a member of the Black Dyke Band from 2005 to 2009, during which time he helped the band win two British Open titles and two National Championship titles, among other achievements. He is the only principal cornetist to date to have won the British Open Soloist Prize three times.

The Black Dyke Band’s reputation and outstanding achievements, built on over 150 years of history, are unparalleled. The band’s trophy history began with a first-place finish at the British Open Brass Band Championships in 1862, and to date, it has amassed a remarkable 30 British Open titles, 23 National Championship titles, and 13 European Championship titles.
