Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
Requiem in D minor, KV 216 (Beyer version)
Project choir
Sinfonietta Darmstadt
Lukas Meister, Stiftskapellmeister
The project choir with singers from the Einsiedeln region and the Sinfonietta Darmstadt fill the Einsiedeln monastery church with Mozart's most famous and mysterious music. The Requiem in D minor is his last work and there are many myths surrounding its genesis. Mozart's last hours of work were devoted to the Mass for the Dead in D minor, which he was unable to complete. It was finally completed by two of his pupils on behalf of his widow. The profound music still moves people today with its expressive and emotional tonal language and lends a special depth to the Passiontide.
