Salon of the Present in Central Switzerland 2026
Exhibition project at the akku Art Platform Emmen, at the Hans Erni Museum Lucerne, at the Stans Gallery, and at the Engelberg Valley Museum. The Zurich group of figurative painting is appearing in Central Switzerland for the first time with guests from the region. Each of the four exhibition venues displays works from all participants but focuses on a specific thematic emphasis. A rich supporting program deepens the central theme of the exhibitions: the contemporaneity of figurative painting.
At the Valley Museum, the focus is on the surface and what lies beneath it: UnterGrund. The surface is the first thing we perceive: the visible skin of the painting, shaped by material, print, and shine, where meaning first manifests. Yet it constantly refers to what lies beneath, to a structure that emerges as an inner order made of traces, rhythm, and density. The figure also unites these layers, being simultaneously a physical shell and a human structure of history and tension. Thus, surface and structure together form a vibrant interplay in which the visible and the invisible are inextricably linked.
