The two Central Swiss orienteering clubs OLG Goldau and OLG KTV Altdorf are jointly organising a national orienteering weekend in the heart of Switzerland in 2024.

On Saturday, 28 September 2024, a middle-distance orienteering event will take place in the Axenstein running area above Brunnen.

A national orienteering event will take place on the Axenstein map for the first time. The forest had to be reforested after the Föhn storm in 1982. The sloping terrain is interspersed with smaller and larger stones and has a few cart fields. The terrain challenges runners both in terms of mapping, physical fitness and coordination, making it a demanding run over the middle distance.
Interested walkers and hikers can register for one of the open categories (open short, open medium, open long) on the day of the race.

More detailed information about the event and an example of an older orienteering map of the running area are available at https://www.urschwyzer-ol.ch/7nat/.
