World Water Connection - International Water Symposium
Andermatt - On 22 November 2025, the water castle of Europe will be the venue for the international water symposium with the theme ‘The secrets of water’.
The aim of the Gotthard-Connects association is to revitalise the water castle of Europe and to build bridges between science and life in order to communicate the latest scientific findings to the general public. There are many amazing discoveries about water that are not yet part of common knowledge and could solve some of the world's challenges.
Visitors to the symposium will discover the secrets of water by observing how a water bridge hangs freely in the air, or learn that there is a fourth phase of water called ‘structured water’. The most interesting realisation, however, is that there is evidence that water contains information and can even communicate through the phase of ice.
With refreshing curiosity, the Swiss television presenter Cornelia Boesch will guide visitors through the day as if they were ‘in the flow’ and, with her journalistic talent, will grill the experts on the latest findings in the field of water.
The first part of the day, the official opening of our international symposium, will be introduced by the former Swiss Federal Councillor, Ueli Maurer. His passion for the Gotthard region and our water is inspiring and will set the tone for the day.
It is an honour for the organisation to welcome Prof. Gerald Pollack, the world-renowned cell biologist from the University of Washington (USA). He will take visitors on a journey through the fourth phase of water, which will provide many answers to questions that have not yet been answered.
From the Netherlands, Dr Dipl. Ing. Elmar Fuchs will show us how the hanging water bridge works and what it means for our understanding of water.
From New Zealand, Veda Austin will share her amazing insights into crystal photography online. With over 20,000 images, she proves that water is more than we think.
Water is anything but ordinary. Its peculiarities are the main reason why life is possible on earth. Physicist Prof. Dr Rolf Kipfer, Professor of Water Resources and Drinking Water at the EAWAG water research institute and ETH Zurich, will provide insights into the uniqueness of the element of water.
The musical accompaniment will be a surprise, but in honour of the mountain region.
Save the date: 22 November 2025 in Andermatt / URI - Switzerland.
