Cancelled: New Year Firework 2026

Cancellation of the New Year's Eve fireworks display on 1 January 2026

Lucerne cancels New Year's Eve celebrations out of respect and solidarity

The New Year's Eve fireworks display in Lucerne planned for 1 January 2026 has been cancelled. The decision was made in light of the tragic events that occurred last night in Crans-Montana. Out of respect for those affected, their families and the entire region, the organising committee has made a conscious decision not to hold the event.

For 16 years, the New Year's Eve fireworks display has traditionally marked the communal, festive start to the new year. This makes the decision to suspend this beloved tradition all the more difficult. However, in view of the current situation, the organising committee does not consider it appropriate to hold a large public fireworks display.

The New Year's Magic is a joint effort by the Lucerne community, supported by hotels, partner companies, patrons and numerous participants. This community sees itself not only as a host for special moments, but also as part of a supportive society that pauses in times of mourning.

The organising committee would like to thank all partners, supporters and the public for their understanding. The thoughts of the organising committee are with those affected by the accident in Crans-Montana.
