Promenade
The Bruchquartier ranks amongst the more vibrant parts of the city. This lively residential quarter is where you’ll find a wealth of culture, local handcrafts, bars and restaurants.

For instance, visit Treger, a boutique known for its braces and tailored menswear. Or Mimoa, a source of small, handmade everyday accessories. Also located in the Bruchquartier is the Madeleine, a trendy cultural venue that stages comedy and music.

History

The Bruchquartier was the site of the cantonal cattle market. From 1912, Bruchstrasse was where cattle dealers would haggle over the best animals between residential and commercial buildings. The residents then made a stand against the dirt and the smell, and the market closed in 1971.
