Annabelle Schneider's award-winning, multisensory art exhibition once again transforms the Dragon Forum into an immersive space that bridges nature, art, and perception.
Following the huge success of the first edition, BREATHE WITH PILATUS returns to Mount Pilatus (2,132 m above sea level) from December 19, 2026, through April 25, 2027. This winter, Annabelle Schneider’s breathing cloud of fabric will guide visitors from the ever-changing landscape of Mount Pilatus into its heart—and into the centuries-old legend of the Pilatus Dragon.

Annabelle Schneider, an artist and experience designer born in Switzerland and based in New York, has created a new, site-specific installation for the multisensory, walk-through exhibition at the Dragon Forum of the Hotel Pilatus-Kulm.
The cloud offers a space to slow down and complements the outdoor nature experience with an artistic perspective indoors. Admission is free with a valid Pilatus Railways ticket.

Annabelle Schneider’s work explores slowness through radical reduction and the deliberate choreography of multisensory layers within a space. In a culture shaped by digital acceleration and AI-driven optimization, her work asks not only what technology is capable of, but also what aspects of our humanity we might lose in the process.

As a counterpoint, Schneider develops hyper-human environments that reconnect us with nature in and around us, with our bodies, our intuition, and with forces greater than ourselves. BREATHE WITH PILATUS: AWAKENING THE DRAGON WITHIN explores the tension between seemingly opposing forces: nature and technology, acceleration and stillness, darkness and light. The dragon moves between these worlds as an ancient force of transformation and protection.
Through air, light, sound, scent, and touch, the breathing cloud creates a physical space that slows us down and sharpens our perception. It invites us to step back in order to reconnect. In a time of profound technological change, the mystical Mount Pilatus and the forces of nature become sources of grounding and wonder. By consciously designing the physical space to bring attention back to the present moment and reawaken intuition, the work explores how design can help us navigate transformation without losing our inner compass.
