The Bächenstock is one of the most striking peaks in the Meiental and is a rewarding destination for ski tourers. The ascent leads through a stunning winter landscape and across the summit glacier. Even along the way, you can get a sense of the varied descent that awaits you later.
The tour starts in Färnigen in the Meiental valley. In winter, the road is usually open all the way there. From Färnigen, the route first leads up to the Sewenhütte and then continues across the Sewenalp toward the Bächenstock. A ski depot is set up below the summit before the final section is covered on foot.
The descent generally follows the same route back to Färnigen.
Alternatively, the tour can be split into two days with an overnight stay at the Sewenhütte, and you can start directly from there on the second day.
