The choir members are all singers with a nautical background. Thanks to their close relationship with their native Lake Lucerne and the sea, the shanty crew touches the audience - and sweeps them away with the authentic songs of seafaring times gone by!
Let yourself be whisked away to the bygone world of tall ships and enjoy the working and ragged songs of the sailors.
The Tribschenhorn shanty crew in brief:
1980: a storm with strong winds and torrential rain during the harbor festival ensured that even hardened sailors preferred the warmth of the living room to a visit to the newly built harbor. No guests, so they started singing sea shanties and songs. It was thanks to Fritz Ruckli's spontaneity that the Tribschenhorn Lucerne Shanty Choir was founded. With the help of Stan Clark, Peter Huwiler was recruited as the first conductor and choirmaster.
After 45 years in the anniversary year 2025
2025: The choir with 25 to 30 tenors, basses and instrumentalists (guitar, harmonica, mouth organ) is professionally led by conductor Peter Lindenmann. In recent years, he has played a decisive role in shaping the Tribschenhorn Shanty Crew - and has developed a choir that successfully masters joint performances with well-known male choirs and brass bands. The highlight in 2018 was winning the festival prize at the international Baltic Sea Shanty Festival. Twelve choirs from Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland took part.
