The first Weggis Sunday concert of the new year will feature the Ukrainian-Swiss star violinist Kateryna Timokhina and the organist Jonas Herzog, who works mainly in the cantons of Aargau and Zurich. The varied program includes duo works by Vivaldi, the late Romantic composer J.G. Rheinberger and rarities by Paul Richard Gläser and John Reading, as well as for solo organ by J.S. Bach (Pastorella) and, as a surprise, music from the film "Interstellar" in a version for a keyboard instrument.
Kateryna Timokhina is a multi-award-winning Ukrainian-Swiss violinist who has been performing internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster since her debut at the age of 12. She studied in Kiev, Zurich and Graz, graduated with honors, was a member of the South German Philharmonic Orchestra and founded the Swiss Violin Studio.
Jonas Herzog is a Swiss organist, choirmaster and organ expert. After extensive training in Zurich and Trossingen, he worked as an organist in Adliswil, Baar and Winterthur and as the director of several choirs. He performs internationally, teaches, gives seminars and advises as a freelance organ building expert.
