The "Silver Round Trip" takes you by train, cogwheel railroad, aerial cableway and panoramic gondola lift to the most beautiful spots around the Pilatus and to the summit. 

The "Silver Round Trip" is as versatile and varied as the Pilatus itself. From mid-May to mid-November, discover all the facets of Lucerne's local mountain with the Zentralbahn, the world's steepest cogwheel railroad, the aerial cableway and the panoramic gondola lift.

Lucerne - Alpnachstad (by train) - Pilatus
The "Silver Round Trip" is a highlight for train lovers. From Lucerne main station, the Zentralbahn takes you along the shores of Lake Lucerne to Alpnachstad in twenty minutes. The world's steepest cogwheel railroad awaits you here and takes you high up to the summit of Mount Pilatus. Even during the leisurely ride, the eye has plenty of time to enjoy the view. Another highlight awaits you on the Pilatus: the panoramic view of the Alpine mountain range.

Pilatus - Kriens - Lucerne
Simply soar: Glide down to Kriens on the "Dragon Ride" aerial cableway and the panoramic gondola lift. From the valley station, it's a five-minute walk to the number 1 bus stop , which will take you to Lucerne in comfort.

The "Silver Round Trip" can easily be done in the opposite direction. Kriens or Alpnachstad are also possible starting points.

You have the option of reserving a seat on the rack railroad. It is not obligatory to reserve a seat, but is strongly recommended on busy days to avoid waiting times. Please check the timetable in advance here.

Directions & Parking facilities

Start: Alpnachstad
Public transport: From Lucerne main station, take the Zentralbahn train along the shores of Lake Lucerne to Alpnachstad in twenty minutes.

By car: Take the A8 highway towards Sarnen/Interlaken, exit Alpnachstad.
Parking spaces are available at the valley station. E-charging stations for electric cars are located at Alpnachstad railroad station.

Start: Kriens
Public transport: From Lucerne railroad station: Take bus no. 1 (stop A) in the direction of Kriens/Obernau to the bus stop "Kriens, Zentrum Pilatus". The bus ride takes approx. 15 minutes.

By car: Highway A2 direction Lucerne, exit Lucerne South/Kriens.
At the valley station you will find parking spaces and 4 e-charging stations for electric cars.

Package feature

The ticket for the Silver Round Trip includes travel on the mountain railroads (cogwheel railroad, gondola and aerial cableway), the bus journey between Kriens and Lucerne and the train journey between Lucerne and Alpnachstad.
