Peacefully and soothingly accompanied by the rustling of the Engelberger Aa – after heavy rainfall it comes rumbling, a brown broth, carrying along heavy stones.

One of the few flat paths with a natural surface in the canton of Nidwalden. It is passable all year round. Peacefully and soothingly, the family-friendly hike begins shortly after the Dallenwil train station and leads along the Engelberger Aa to Oberdorf, where the Restaurant & Hotel Eintracht is located and is perfect for a stopover. The hiking path along the Engelberger Aa is wide and is lined with bushes, trees, and seating areas. Coming from Oberdorf, river and hiking path turn at a right angle at Kreuzstrasse towards Buochs – in the past, the water here decided whether it preferred to flow to Stansstad or Buochs, the area was a floodplain. The path then passes the covered Faden bridge from 1855 with the beautiful Nidwalden coat of arms. On both sides of the river, it continues to the lake at the Buochser Aawasseregg.
