At the post office in Altbüron, we ascend on the hiking trail towards Blatten against the castle hill and walk through the beautiful beech forest until we meet the border path. Before following this well-marked route, a detour to the Isehuet viewpoint is worthwhile, where we can even see the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The path continues through the great forest to the stately hamlet Ober Berghof. An information board points out that we are on the "old country road gan Sanct Urban," which is part of the inventory of historical transport routes in Switzerland. From Ober Berghof, the view opens up to the Jura, and soon we also see the striking red dome roofs of the monastery church of the Cistercian monastery St. Urban. Pleasant paths soon bring us to the entrance of the monastery complex, where a longer stay is worthwhile before returning home by bus or train.
