- Start: Lachen Train Station
- Destination: Lachen Train Station
We leave the village of Lachen relatively quickly behind us and soon see the St. Johann chapel watching over the surrounding area from the hill. Before 1350, there was a castle at the site of the chapel. From here, the lords of Rapperswil are said to have managed their estates before founding the town of Rapperswil on the other side of the lake. The chapel is also a beautiful viewpoint over Lake Zürich and towards the Glarus Alps.
We continue walking uphill and enjoy how the white fruit blossoms echo the white sails on Lake Zürich. A romantic highlight is the blossom arch about halfway through the route. Then the descent begins. After a short stretch of road shared with cars and a brief walk through a residential street, we stroll again along meadows with blooming high-stem trees. Then we go uphill again towards the chapel, where the loop closes and the same path as at the beginning leads back to the train station.
