The easy and short circular hike starts and ends at the Bohrplatte, formerly a natural gas extraction site, today an industrial monument. Here you will find a children's playground, play meadow, barbecue area, four tables, covered shelter, and a toilet.
You first hike along the Fuchseremoos peatland and cross it after a short time to reach the village of Finsterwald. The modern church, built in 1938/1939, especially catches the eye. At the edge of the village of Finsterwald stands a large wood chip hall and shortly afterwards the hiking trail enters the forest. In the Chilewald forest, a short detour allows visiting the Experience Platform «Forest & Wood».
After leaving the forest, the hiking trail leads via Finsterwäldli back towards the village and the Bohrplatte.

The route is almost entirely marked with the signposts "Experience Energy Entlebuch." Exception: In the Chilewald forest, follow the forest road 50 meters to the left, then turn left onto a slightly ascending forest path.

The UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch is located in the heart of Switzerland, centrally between Bern and Lucerne. You can reach Finsterwald via main road 10 towards Entlebuch and from there to Finsterwald (direction Glaubenberg). From Sarnen, drive over Glaubenberg to Finsterwald.

You can reach Finsterwald by public transport via Entlebuch (Bern-Lucerne railway line). From Entlebuch, take the postal bus to Finsterwald.
