The circular hike starts at the natural dam. After crossing the dam, hikers ascend to the Damma Reuss. Then they continue through alpine landscape to the Chelen Reuss, which is also crossed. The views of the glaciers are breathtaking. Finally, the path rises again slightly and leads back to the dam.
Climate listening trail: For years, ETH researchers conducted studies in front of the Damma glacier. Now hikers can share in the results: The path begins at the dam and leads over alpine rose slopes to the barren forefield of the Damma glacier, to a lateral moraine, and through raised bogs. A total of nine listening stations are distributed around the Göscheneralpsee, where hikers can learn interesting facts about climate through an audio guide. The audio guide conveys exciting stories. For example, it informs that bacteria even eat stones until they disintegrate; in the children's audio guide, you can even hear their munching.Â
