- Start: At the church in Rothenthurm
- Destination: At the mountain station of the rotating gondola Sattel-Hochstuckli
Within the Rothenthurm moorland lies the largest contiguous raised bog in Switzerland. However, this hike shows a different side of the municipality in the Biber high valley, leading through the southern part up to the family mountain Sattel-Hochstuckli. Once you have left the village, the path leads along meadows and through loose woodland. Along the way, you should also stop just to enjoy the view. Looking back shows the village with the moorland stretching far back. You can also see Lake Ägeri and the hills of Morgarten. The Rossberg, the Rigi, the Pilatus, and many other peaks of the Schwyz, Uri, and Bernese Alps are visible. The last third of the path runs through quiet forest before you reappear in the busy area around the toboggan run and the jumping facilities on Mostelberg.
The rotating gondola takes you back down to the valley at Sattel, from where the Auto AG Schwyz bus runs to Rothenthurm.
