From Hospental, you ride past Zumdorf, the smallest village in Switzerland, towards Furka. Following in the footsteps of 007 (Goldfinger), you conquer the Furka Pass. With its many bends, it is a challenge for every cyclist. Visit the ice cave near Hotel Belvedere and enjoy the impressive view of the Rhône Glacier. In the nostalgic village of Gletsch, you may be lucky enough to see the Furka steam railway.
After a refreshment, you continue along the Rotte/Rhône River towards the Nufenen Pass. The steady climb gives you time to enjoy the picturesque landscape. After you have conquered the highest pass open to traffic in the Central Alps, you descend on the Ticino side into the lovely Bedretto Valley and back towards Airolo. From Airolo, you climb via the Tremola, the old cobblestone road, up to the Gotthard Pass. A unique experience!
At the pass, a visit to the museum or the Gotthard fortress Sasso San Gottardo is worthwhile, so you can admire the unique giant crystals with your own eyes. Then it's a fast ride back down to Hospental.
